What is it? – Every time I see lace crochet I am reminded of my grandmother. She truly was an artist with lace-weight threads and steel crochet hooks. As you might expect, most of her crochet projects centered around beautiful edges applied to handkerchiefs or table linens or those time vaunted projects known as “doilies”. But that was then and this is now. What can be or is being accomplished present day with lace-weight yarns and steel crochet hooks? How about anything we want? Jewelry, scarves, belts, headbands along with fashion and home decor accents of all kinds or even 3-D stand-alone projects. Add to that the availability of modern textile mediums of amazing fiber blends, textures and colors and our creative potentials have virtually skyrocketed. Oh yeah, and don’t forget beads. Size selection – Serious thought was applied to determine the hook size selection that would facilitate projects ranging from the finest threads and beads to the transition for yarn size projects. There are 7 sizes included. Size 0 – 1.75mm, Size 2 – 1.50mm, Size 4 – 1.25mm, Size 6 – 1.00mm, Size 8 – 0.90mm, Size 10 – 0.75mm, and Size 12 – 0.60mm. Smaller numbers indicate larger sizes. I know, confusing right? It’s a steel thing.
Tip design – The tip of each crochet hook is engineered specifically to engage and manipulate the thread smoothly, evenly and without damage. The Amour tip has a slight point so you don’t have to worry about splitting yarns when the hook is inserted. The lip is slightly rounded so no snagging or splitting when pulling through. And lastly the groove also has a rounded component to prevent our stitches from accidentally slipping off. The overall point design makes smooth, fast work of even the most demanding crochet designs.
